Identity—Workmanship pt. 2

Jan 4, 2026    Brad Hudson

In Identity—Workmanship (Part 2), we return to Ephesians 2:10 to explore not only who we are in Christ, but why God has made us new. Having established that believers are God’s workmanship—His intentional, finished creation—this message moves from identity to purpose. Paul reminds us that salvation is not self-improvement or moral reform, but new creation in Christ. From that settled identity flows a life of obedience marked by good works—not as a means of earning salvation, but as the divinely prepared path God graciously invites us to walk.

This message reframes obedience as a response to grace rather than a repayment for it. The good works God calls us to are not improvised or pressure-driven; they are sovereignly prepared ahead of time. As God’s workmanship, our worth is affirmed before our works begin, freeing us from pride, insecurity, and guilt-driven service. Instead, we are invited into joyful participation in what God has already planned. The central question shifts from “Am I doing enough?” to “What has God designed me to walk into?” Through grace, we don’t strive to create purpose—we walk faithfully into what God has already prepared.
